WHY commercial SOLAR?

Six reasons commercial solar

is a sound capital decision.

For businesses, solar is not an environmental gesture — it's a balance-sheet play. Properly engineered and permitted systems deliver predictable returns, operational savings, and competitive advantages that compound year over year.

☀️
~90%
AVG. BILL OFFSET
Eliminate or drastically reduce utility bills
A properly sized residential system offsets 80–100% of annual consumption. SSE designs systems sized to your 12-month load profile, not rule-of-thumb estimates.
🛡️
30%
FEDERAL ITC
Federal & state tax incentives
The 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) remains available through 2032. Arizona adds a separate 25% state tax credit (up to $1,000) and a sales tax exemption on equipment.
📦
1:1
CREDIT RATE
Net metering credits
Excess generation exported to the grid earns retail-rate credits with APS and SRP. SSE's interconnection engineers prepare the utility paperwork so nothing is left on the table.
🍃
Reduce your carbon footprint
A 7 kW residential system displaces roughly 9–11 metric tons of CO₂ per year — equivalent to planting 450+ trees annually. Our load modeling documents this for HOA and permit submissions.
🏠
+$4/W
RESALE PREMIUM
Increased property value
Studies by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory show solar adds an average of $4 per installed watt to resale price. A permitted, engineered system commands a premium over DIY installs.
🔌
Energy independence & resilience
Paired with battery storage (Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ), your system keeps critical loads running during grid outages. SSE engineers the battery integration and produces the required single-line diagrams.

engineering process

From feasibility call to stamped permit package.

We integrate directly with your EPC, developer, or in-house team. We handle every technical deliverable so you can focus on the deal and the install.

01

Feasibility & &preliminary design

We evaluate your site, load profile, and utility rate structure to size a system that pencils out.

02

Structural engineering

Roof, carport, or ground-mount structural calculations stamped by a licensed PE.

03

Electrical engineering

Single-line diagrams, conduit and conductor sizing, and equipment specs built to code.

04

Permitting &AHJ coordination

We manage the submittal and respond to reviewer comments directly. 90%+ of our packages clear on the first cycle.

05

Interconnection support

Utility application, technical review responses, and witness testing coordination through PTO.

Is your facility a good fit for solar?

Most commercial properties qualify. Here's what we look for:

  • Usable roof, carport, or ground-mount area facing south, west, or east with strong sun exposure

  • Structure with 10+ years of remaining service life (roof or otherwise) to support a 25-year system

  • Average monthly utility bills of $500+, where offset delivers a meaningful return

  • Minimal shading from adjacent structures, equipment, or vegetation across the array footprint

Not sure if your facility clears the bar? Send us your utility bill and site photos and we'll tell you straight — no cost to find out.

common questions

Answers from our engineering team.

Do I need a PE-stamped design to get a commercial permit?

Yes — most AHJs require a licensed engineer's stamp on structural and electrical drawings for commercial-scale systems. We provide that stamp on every project.

How long does the permit process take?

Most jurisdictions turn around commercial solar permits in 2-3 weeks once a complete package is submitted. Other counties and states may run longer — we'll give you a realistic estimate upfront.

Do I have to use a specific installer?

No. Our engineering packages are installer-agnostic — bring your own crew, or we can point you toward installers we've worked with before.

Can you design battery storage into the system?

Yes. We engineer battery storage alongside PV for backup power, demand charge management, or full resilience planning — sized to your facility's actual load.
