WHY SOLAR?

Six reasons your home is a better

investment with solar.

Beyond the obvious utility-bill reduction, residential solar delivers measurable financial, environmental, and resilience benefits, each backed by engineering precision.

☀️
~90%
AVG. BILL OFFSET
Eliminate or drastically reduce utility bills
A properly sized residential system offsets 80–100% of annual consumption. SSE designs systems sized to your 12-month load profile, not rule-of-thumb estimates.
🛡️
30%
FEDERAL ITC
Federal & state tax incentives
The 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) remains available through 2032. Arizona adds a separate 25% state tax credit (up to $1,000) and a sales tax exemption on equipment.
📦
1:1
CREDIT RATE
Net metering credits
Excess generation exported to the grid earns retail-rate credits with APS and SRP. SSE's interconnection engineers prepare the utility paperwork so nothing is left on the table.
🍃
Reduce your carbon footprint
A 7 kW residential system displaces roughly 9–11 metric tons of CO₂ per year — equivalent to planting 450+ trees annually. Our load modeling documents this for HOA and permit submissions.
🏠
+$4/W
RESALE PREMIUM
Increased property value
Studies by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory show solar adds an average of $4 per installed watt to resale price. A permitted, engineered system commands a premium over DIY installs.
🔌
Energy independence & resilience
Paired with battery storage (Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ), your system keeps critical loads running during grid outages. SSE engineers the battery integration and produces the required single-line diagrams.

how it works

From home assessment to permit approval.

We handle every technical deliverable. Your installer focuses on the physical work.

01

Home & energy assessment

We look at your utility bills, roof shape, and any shading around your house to figure out the right system size for your home.

02

Custom system design

We design a solar layout built for your roof — where the panels go, what equipment we use, and how much power your system will produce.

03

Engineering Sign-off

We confirm your roof can safely hold the panels and prepare the electrical plans your installer needs to get to work.

04

Permits & interconnection

We handle the paperwork with your city and your utility company so everything's approved before installation starts.

05

Construction support

We're on call for your installer during the project, so any questions get answered fast and nothing slows down.

IS YOUR HOME A GOOD CANDIDATE?

Most Arizona homes qualify.

Here's what we look for.

Our feasibility review is included in every project quote. If solar isn't the right fit, we'll tell you before any money changes hands.

  • South, west, or east-facing roof sections with at least 200 sq ft of usable area.

  • Roof age of 5+ years remaining (we assess if re-roofing before install is straightforward).

  • Monthly utility bills of $100 or more yield the strongest financial case.

  • No persistent full-day shading from trees or adjacent structures.

common questions

Answers from our engineering team.

What does a home solar system cost, and are there tax credits or incentives?

Most homeowners pay between $15,000–$30,000 for a full system before any incentives, depending on your home's energy use and roof size. We'll give you an exact number after a quick look at your electric bills and roof — no cost or obligation.

As of 2026, the federal 30% solar tax credit has ended for homeowner-owned systems, but a few savings are still on the table in Arizona:

• Arizona state tax credit — 25% of your system cost, up to $1,000

• Sales tax exemption — no state sales tax on solar equipment

• Property tax exemption — the added value solar gives your home is 100% exempt from property tax

• Net billing — your utility credits you for excess power your system sends back to the grid

Financing and solar leases are also available if you'd rather spread the cost out or skip the upfront investment entirely. We're happy to walk you through the numbers for your specific home.

How long does the permit process take?

Typical AHJ turnaround in Maricopa County is 3–10 business days for residential permits when the package is complete on submission. SSE's packages are designed to pass on the first review — no back-and-forth delays.

Can Sonora Solar work with my solar installer, or do I have to use one you choose?

SSE is installer-agnostic. We work with contractors of all sizes and can be engaged directly by the homeowner or by the installing contractor. Our deliverables are compatible with any installer's workflow.

Does Sonora Solar design battery storage systems too?

Yes. We design AC-coupled and DC-coupled battery systems including load center rewiring, critical-load subpanel design, and the interconnection documentation required by the utility for storage-equipped systems.
